Finding the best harness for large dogs comes down to hardware and weight distribution more than looks. A big, strong dog can put real force on a leash attachment point, so a harness needs reinforced stitching, wide padded straps, and a design that spreads pressure across the chest and shoulders instead of the neck. Below…
A prong collar, also called a pinch collar, is a training collar made of interlocking metal links with blunt prongs facing inward toward the dog’s neck. When leash tension is applied, the links draw together, and the prongs apply even pressure around the neck rather than concentrating it on the throat. It’s one of the…
Getting how to measure a dog collar right comes down to one accurate neck measurement and the two-finger rule. A collar that’s too loose can slip over your dog’s head, while one that’s too tight rubs and chafes. Measure the Neck, Not the Head or Shoulders Wrap a soft fabric tape measure around your dog’s…
A martingale leash is a slip lead with a built-in martingale loop, one continuous piece of gear that combines the collar and leash instead of buying them separately. Knowing how to use a martingale leash starts with slipping it over the head, adjusting the slide, and getting it ready. That simplicity is exactly why shelters,…
The best dog collar for large dogs is judged on one thing above all: what happens when your dog hits the end of the leash at full weight. That force lands on the buckle and D-ring, not the strap, which is why the hardware matters more than the material. Below are five collars that hold…
The best harness for a bulldog puppy must accommodate a body shape most standard harnesses weren’t designed for: a thick neck, a wide, barrel chest, and a short snout that makes throat pressure riskier than it is for other breeds. English and French Bulldog puppies also grow fast in their first year, so a harness…
Finding the best no-pull harness for large dogs means looking for hardware and a leash attachment design built to handle real force, not just a smaller dog’s harness sized up. A powerful 60- to 100-pound dog can drag an owner off balance in seconds. Hence, the harness needs reinforced stitching, wide padded straps, and a…
The best dog bark collar does one job well: it corrects excessive barking consistently, without triggering on a neighbor’s dog, a doorbell, or a passing car. The real difference between a good bark collar and a frustrating one usually comes down to detection accuracy, since a collar that misfires on ambient noise teaches a dog…
A martingale collar is a two-loop dog collar that tightens a limited amount when your dog pulls, then loosens again the moment the tension stops. It was designed to solve one specific problem: dogs whose heads are narrower than their necks can back straight out of an ordinary flat collar. Sighthounds are the classic case,…
Finding the best dog collar for puppies is less about picking a cute pattern and more about buying for a dog that won’t stay the same size for long. A puppy’s neck can grow noticeably in a matter of weeks, their skin and coat are more sensitive than an adult dog’s, and they’ll test every…
